Program Description:
Entry Level:
By the end of the course, students will
-
have memorized the words from 3K GRE Vocabulary;
-
have mastered the grammar often involved in the GRE General test and been able to understand long and complex sentences;
-
have developed a deeper understanding of the differences between English and Chinese;
-
be able to understand academic discussions at the introductory level of whatever topics;
-
be able to run graduate-level math operations for analysis;
-
be able to read and think critically by identifying the fallacies in others’ argument
-
be able to write a full argument independently with substantive supporting details.
Intermediate Level:
By the end of the course, students will
-
have memorized the words from 3K GRE Vocabulary;
-
be able to segment and understand long and complex sentences;
-
be able to segment and understand an academic essay at the introductory level;
-
be able to understand academic discussions at the introductory level of whatever topics;
-
be able to run graduate-level math operations for analysis;
-
be able to read and think critically by identifying the fallacies in others’ argument
-
be able to write a full argument independently with substantive supporting details and a convincing counterargument
Advanced Level:
By the end of the course, students will
-
have memorized the words from 3K GRE Vocabulary and almost no unknown words in a GRE test;
-
be able to segment and understand long and complex sentences;
-
be able to understand the logic of academic writings of whatever disciplines;
-
be able to run graduate-level math operations for analysis;
-
be able to read and think critically;
-
be able to write a full argument quickly and independently with substantive supporting details, convincing counterarguments, which inspires thinking of higher values
