Program Description:
Entry Level:
By the end of the course, students will
-
have memorized all the words from 21-Day TOEFL Vocabulary Handbook;
-
have mastered the grammar often involved in the TOEFL iBT test;
-
have developed a deeper understanding of the differences between English and Chinese;
-
be able to understand and write a brief summary of academic and non-academic conversations, discussions, or lectures;
-
be able to initiate a daily conversation on a topic about commonplace items or issues;
-
be able to identify grammar mistakes and write full sentences with proper usage of punctuations, transitional expressions;
-
be able to write a full essay to express an idea.
Intermediate Level:
By the end of the course, students will
-
have mastered all the words from 21-Day TOEFL Vocabulary Handbook;
-
have mastered the grammar often involved in the TOEFL iBT test both in comprehension (language input) and expression (language output);
-
be able to understand academic as well as non-academic source materials in English;
-
be able to fairly discuss about others’ opinions and identify the relations;
-
be able to organize an argument and communicate it effectively to convince the audience.
Advanced Level:
By the end of the course, students will
-
have mastered all the words from 21-Day TOEFL Vocabulary Handbook;
-
have mastered the grammar often involved in the TOEFL iBT test both in comprehension (language input) and expression (language output);
-
be able to understand academic as well as non-academic source materials in English both in their literal and connotative meanings;
-
be able to discuss about others’ opinions and identify the relations with a clear recognition of the claim and substantive details;
-
be able to organize an argument and communicate it effectively to convince the audience with cohesion and coherence.
