Learning Outcomes

TOEFL Enhanced Program (1-on-1)

Duration:  2 hrs./Class

 

Class Size: at will (1-on-1/small group)

 

Delivery: Online/On-site

Program Description:

Entry Level:

By the end of the course, students will

  1. have memorized all the words from 21-Day TOEFL Vocabulary Handbook;

  2. have mastered the grammar often involved in the TOEFL iBT test;

  3. have developed a deeper understanding of the differences between English and Chinese;

  4. be able to understand and write a brief summary of academic and non-academic conversations, discussions, or lectures;

  5. be able to initiate a daily conversation on a topic about commonplace items or issues;

  6. be able to identify grammar mistakes and write full sentences with proper usage of punctuations, transitional expressions;

  7. be able to write a full essay to express an idea.

Intermediate Level:

By the end of the course, students will

  1. have mastered all the words from 21-Day TOEFL Vocabulary Handbook;

  2. have mastered the grammar often involved in the TOEFL iBT test both in comprehension (language input) and expression (language output);

  3. be able to understand academic as well as non-academic source materials in English;

  4. be able to fairly discuss about others’ opinions and identify the relations;

  5. be able to organize an argument and communicate it effectively to convince the audience.

Advanced Level:

By the end of the course, students will

  1. have mastered all the words from 21-Day TOEFL Vocabulary Handbook;

  2. have mastered the grammar often involved in the TOEFL iBT test both in comprehension (language input) and expression (language output);

  3. be able to understand academic as well as non-academic source materials in English both in their literal and connotative meanings;

  4. be able to discuss about others’ opinions and identify the relations with a clear recognition of the claim and substantive details;

  5. be able to organize an argument and communicate it effectively to convince the audience with cohesion and coherence.

  3. have developed a deeper understanding of the differences between English and Chinese;

  4. be able to understand and write a brief summary of academic and non-academic conversations, discussions, or lectures;

  5. be able to initiate a daily conversation on a topic about commonplace items or issues;

  6. be able to identify grammar mistakes and write full sentences with proper usage of punctuations, transitional expressions;

  7. be able to write a full essay to express an idea.

Intermediate Level:

By the end of the course, students will

  1. have mastered the use of all the words from IELTS Vocabulary: Word Roots and Associations;

  2. have mastered the grammar often involved in the IELTS test and actively use in their own language output;

  3. have developed a deeper understanding of the differences between English and Chinese;

  4. be able to understand and write a brief summary of pro-academic and non-academic/everyday discussions;

  5. be able to initiate and maintain a daily conversation on a topic about commonplace items or issues;

  6. be able to write a full essay to effectively illustrate information in a chart and fairly communicate an argument to readers with proper use of exemplifications, statistics, etc.

Advanced Level:

By the end of the course, students will

  1. have mastered the use of all the words from IELTS Vocabulary: Word Roots and Associations;

  2. have mastered the grammar often involved in the IELTS test and actively use diverse word choices and sentence structures in their own language output;

  3. have developed a deep insight into the differences between English and Chinese;

  4. be able to initiate and maintain a daily conversation on a topic about commonplace items or issues;

  5. be able to write a full essay to effectively illustrate information in a chart and communicate an argument to readers with proper use of exemplifications, statistics, etc.
